The best way to become an expert at Internet marketing is to test and track every one of your promotions. This trial by fire will give you the right prospective on your business. You will know which methods will work and the ones that are failing or are bringing very little results.
Testing and tracking your promotions:
1. Split testing: one of the best ways to test your advertisements and promotions is to split test. You can do this with your ads and sales pages.
a. Your ad copy: Make 2 ads for the same product or service and put them in the same ezine or publication. Use a tracking URL and find out how many clicks you are getting on each ad. Then calculate the sales ratio of each. In this way you will find the best ads to use for your promotions. It is best to use classified ads for this purpose in publications and expand the best ads.
b. Sales page: You can make 2 sales pages and send ½ of your traffic to each one. You will test them just as you do for your advertisements. Change sub headlines and headlines first and then work on details.
2. Squeeze pages: You can also use squeeze pages and link them to each promotion you are using. In this way you will be able to see exactly how many visitors, sales, and subscribers you are getting with each promotion. You can also check article directories that you are using for article distribution. Remember to record all findings.
